Four Lies and One Martial Arts Fact…

August 27, 2009 | Author: Matthew | Filed under: Martial Arts,Quizzes and Games,karate

I’ve recently been challenged by Martial Arts Mom and Shang Lee to participate in a meme. I wouldn’t want to disappoint my fellow bloggers or incur their wrath, so here we go -

The meme works as follows. You post five things about yourself. Four are untrue. One is true. All are so outlandish, implausible or ridiculous that no one would be inclined to believe that any of them are true. And despite the pleas from your readers, you never divulge which is true and which are fabrications. You then tag five other people (four seriously and one person you are pretty sure would never participate).

Fact or Fiction:

1. I once entered a black belt division in a karate tournament as a green belt and subsequently took first.

2. I first learned about the availability of Russian brides through my martial arts training.

3. I was once drawn into a challenge match at my dojo by a roaming grappler looking to prove himself like a ronin.

4. I was offered a role in the upcoming movie Avatar: The Last Airbender.

5. I once broke four bo’s during a kobudo kata performance through sheer velocity and whiplash of the swings.

Sweet sweet memories…do you know which one is true and which are the dirty lies?

Now it’s time to tag some folks. There are a lot of people I’d like to holla at, but I better stick to the rules:  Jesse at Martial Explorer, Massimo at Martial What?, Robin at Obey My Blog, Chris at Diary of a Martial Artist, and Iain Abernethy.

Haha. All of these seem quite possible. I'm hoping for 4, but I'm going to guess 2 since that seems the most out of place. I'd believe any of them though.

I wonder if I'm on the “seriously” list or the one guy who would never participate ;)
I'll have to think up some good, fake stuff.

Ohh no – I intend for you to do it. haha. Iain I actually think is the least likely to participate, but we shall see!

I sure hope it's #4! Wouldn't that have been cool?! :-)

Well, I started out as disappointed that I didn't get tagged, but then I realized that nothing outlandish or amazing has EVER happened to me, so mine would be very boring :P . I am going to have to agree with the above replies and say that 4 is the most out-of-place, so I think it's true.

sorry noah – I had you on the short list but it was limiting me to 5, and 1 of them had to be someone I didn't think would do it.

Why not just do it anyway? WTH?

Haha, no problem–like I said, I'm too boring to really do it. I may try and think up some things, but I don't know that anything remarkable has happened to me (aside from catching my hot girlfriend, anyway)

Mmmm… Russian brides.

OK, now I'm your girlfriend, so I should maybe have a better clue. But here's the thing…I kinda don't. Two of them I know to be true, but I won't divulge which ones.

My vote for falsehood falls with #5. Final answer!

Also, if you contact the Russian Brides service below, I will cut you.

Sorry there foxycitrus – only one is truly true! There are shades of truth in the others though.

Branden, you and Laura are welcome in our relationship as far as I'm concerned. I've just got to run it past the ol' ball and chain (you know who I mean)….

FoxyCitrus wrote on August 28, 2009 - 12:40 pm | Visit Link

FoxyCitrus wrote on August 28, 2009 - 12:41 pm | Visit Link

Because Foxy Citrus isn't a traditional Russian name!! haha

I look far too Swedish to be Russian.

Although I'm not sure whether that means you guys would like to hang out with us, or swing.

Key party anyone?

I've ruined this entire post.

Finally back in the land of the internets! Oh gosh…who am I going to tag?? This could be interesting… :)

I think #4 is the lie, personally. You have too much hair to be offered a part as the Avatar, although yes, I know you could always shave your head. I don't think your lady would appreciate it if you did…
